Platform Guidelines
Privacy Policy
Learn about SHRTX's data practices, our browser-first execution model, and how we handle local processing with transparency.
1. Privacy-First Philosophy
At SHRTX, we define Privacy-First Browser Tools as a commitment to minimize unnecessary user data handling. The platform is designed to prioritize browser-side execution, local file processing, and user control.
Our approach values actual engineering practices and transparent communication over exaggerated privacy marketing. Therefore, we clarify that our privacy-first design does not mean that the platform is entirely devoid of network connections, cookies, operational telemetry, or analytics. We utilize lightweight, privacy-conscious third-party services to deliver, secure, and monitor the performance of our static website.
2. File Processing Model
For our browser-based utility tools, we maintain a strict distinction between local file access and remote server uploads:
- Local Browser File Access: Selecting, opening, or importing a local file (such as an image, text document, or code file) inside a tool loads that file directly into your browser’s local memory on your device. This process is fully local and does not transfer the file across any networks.
- Server Uploads: A server upload represents transferring data from your device to remote servers. Our local utility tools do not require uploading your files to SHRTX servers. Local processing when supported.
We use clear language across our platform (such as “select file”, “open file”, or “process locally”) to accurately reflect this local architecture.
3. Data Collection and Operational Services
To maintain site reliability, measure performance, and support the free availability of our utilities, we integrate standard, privacy-conscious operational services:
- Analytics: We use Google Analytics and Cloudflare Analytics to understand performance, monitor loading times, and analyze aggregated, non-identifying usage patterns.
- Error Monitoring: We use Sentry to detect application crashes, JavaScript runtime errors, and general platform reliability issues.
- Discovery Integrations: We utilize search index submissions (such as IndexNow) to keep search engines updated with our tool catalog.
- Advertising: We display advertisements via networks like Google AdSense to support the free operation of SHRTX.
4. Advertising Disclosures
To keep our platform freely available, SHRTX partners with third-party advertising networks, primarily Google AdSense.
- Cookies & Trackers: Our advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, or unique identifiers to serve personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
- Consent Management: We deploy consent management solutions where required by regulations (such as GDPR or India’s DPDP Act) to give you control over personalization preferences.
- Control Limits: While SHRTX controls publisher-side configuration parameters, we do not directly manage or control the underlying tracking technologies or ad personalization systems run by third-party networks. You can opt out of personalized advertising directly via your browser settings or Google’s Ad Settings.
5. Data Handling Boundaries
SHRTX does not intentionally collect, store, or inspect the content of user-created files, uploaded documents, images, text blocks, or tool input/output data processed within our local browser utilities.
However, our standard operational systems and hosting providers (such as Cloudflare Pages) may process standard network telemetry to deliver the site securely. This data may include:
- IP addresses (for security filtering and DDoS prevention)
- Browser type and device capabilities
- Referrer URLs and access timestamps
- Aggregate performance metrics and consent records
This operational telemetry is used solely to maintain, secure, and optimize platform delivery.
6. Compliance and User Rights
We structure our data protection and transparent disclosure practices to align with major regulatory frameworks, including:
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Principles: Supporting data minimization, user consent, and transparency for visitors within the European Economic Area (EEA).
- India Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act Principles: Ensuring clear consent, purpose limitation, and reliable disclosures for users within India.
We do not claim official regulatory certifications or legal audit approvals. Instead, we describe our actual system design and invite users to audit our client-side processing workflows.
